The City of Poughkeepsie Common Council is set to hold a Special Information Session on Tuesday, March 5, allowing residents to engage directly with local government officials and department heads. The session will commence at 6 pm in the Council Chambers on Poughkeepsie City Hall’s third floor at 61 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. After the Special Information Session, the council will conduct its regularly scheduled business meeting, allowing for an additional three minutes of public comment on any topic related to city business.
According to the City Charter, these informational meetings must occur in March and September of each year and are designed to provide a platform for open dialogue between the common council, the mayor, the city administrator, department heads, and the general public. All common council members, along with key city officials, must attend unless excused by the council chair for valid reasons.
The agenda for the upcoming meeting has been made available to the public and can be accessed via the City Website at www.cityofpoughkeepsie.com. Residents wishing to comment or pose questions are encouraged to sign up in advance. During the public participation segment, individuals will be allotted a maximum of 5 minutes to address the council. Attendees are requested to state their name, municipality of residence, and, if applicable, the organization they represent.
Department heads will be on hand to respond to inquiries to the best of their abilities. In cases where time constraints prevent all questions from being addressed, attendees are encouraged to submit additional questions in writing to the Deputy Chamberlain at ddeluca@cityofpoughkeepsie.com.
For those unable to attend in person, written comments or questions can be submitted to the Chairman of the Common Council, Da’Ron Wilson, at dwilson@cityofpoughkeepsie.com or to Deputy City Chamberlain, Donna M. DeLuca, at ddeluca@cityofpoughkeepsie.com.
